Evan Wong is a Sea to Sky and Canadian Rockies based action and adventure photographer. Growing up in Edmonton, he and his friends would regularly suffer through the 8 hour drive for Jasper or Banff day trips. In those years, Evan learned that everything in the mountains must be earned. Work ethic, commitment, perseverance, and grit became his calling cards. Those lessons have stayed with him as he’s found his place in the mountains, camera in hand.
At the heart of Evan’s work is his connection to the people he tells stories about, and their shared love for human powered movement in the mountains. Evan strives to create imagery that is raw and poignant. Emotionally impactful. His photojournalistic style stems from a love of meaningful storytelling and his determination to be in the deep end alongside his athletes. You’ll regularly find him leading pitches with his camera gear and a static line in tow, or ripping 40km trails with a full frame body in his hands.
As an athlete, some of Evan’s proudest achievements include running the Canmore Quad and sending 5.12b at Horne Lake. When he’s not in the mountains, you can find him editing in local cafes, training for his next adventure, or putting the finishing touches on a biomedical engineering degree at the University of British Columbia.
